Office Anesthesia Emergency Prep Course
Emergency preparedness is crucial to the delivery of safe intravenous sedation and general anesthesia.
This course provides an excellent platform for the anesthesia provider/dentist and staff to come together as an anesthesia team in developing the necessary skills sets for managing emergencies during outpatient anesthesia in the dental office.
This unique class utilizes a high tech computerized simulation manikin called SimMan(Laerdal) to provide a realistic hands on environment for training the office staff on medical emergencies. Following lectures on the pertinent medical emergencies and protocols, various emergency scenarios are practiced in a life-like setting in our surgical suite using state of the art monitoring equipment integrated with the computerized SimMan. The emergency drills are videotaped which allows critique and discussion afterwards in our conference room. This practical form of learning has shown to be an excellent method of knowledge retention and will ensure your staff possesses a level of confidence essential for participating in the mandatory state dental board office anesthesia evaluation. The doctor and staff are provided with a copy of their DVD drill for future use.
